Stanisław Dąbrowski – born on 16 August 1932 in Bodzentyn. In 1951 he commenced studies in the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Wrocław where he achieved the title of Doctor of Arts.

The same year he returned to the University as an academic teacher. In a period from 1972 to 1988 he performed the position of vice-director for education of the Political Sciences Institute of the University of Wrocław. In 1978 he habilitated himself at the University of Wrocław. Ten years later he became an associate professor and director for the Political Sciences Institute of the University of Wrocław. He worked as a manager for science and education in the Department of Modern History and Social Movements in the Political Sciences Institute from 1996 to 1998. Subsequently, he was involved in the organization of Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa [Higher Vocational State School] in Legnica. Upon its establishment he was appointed its first rector. A sphere of his scientific interests is Southern – Eastern Europe and Polish – Ukrainian relations.
Stanisław Dąbrowski, professor dr. habilitated, is the author of nearly 20 scientific publications: monographs, dissertations, articles, reviews, and scientific messages. His scientific activities mainly include a history of the Polish political thought, a history of people’s movements and a history of the Lower Silesia Area. His scientific interests in Legnica and its history gave fruit in the form of the city’s monograph of which he is editor and co-author.
Professor Stanisław Dąbrowski engaged in organization of Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa in Legnica in a special manner. Now the school of which he was rector is one of the biggest of this kind in Poland.
