Investment climate


Legnica has for many years focussed on economic diversification, trying to reduce the threat posed by the monoculture of the mining and metallurgical industry in the region. The outcomes of these actions have included the establishment of the Legnica Special Economic Zone (LSEZ) and the Economic Activity Zone (EAZ). As of the end of June 2023, 14 731 entities were registered in the REGON register in Legnica, including:

  • Industry and construction: 2 818
  • Agriculture, forestry, hunting and fisheries: 78
  • Other activities: 11 835

Since 2018 new legal regulations have applied in Poland, having replaced the prior mechanism of State aid for investors, available in the Special Economic Zones. At present, entrepreneurs can apply for a decision on support for a new investment project as part of the Polish Investment Zone. In Legnica, the mechanisms of this aid for investors are used by companies from Poland, Netherlands, Germany, France, Japan and USA.

The companies located in the LSEZ operate mainly in the metal, automotive, chemical, plastic and food sectors. It is worth adding that Legnica is situated within the area of the direct impact of the Wrocław-Prague-Dresden metropolitan area, which is characterised by high specialisation in the automotive sector. It is strongly represented in Legnica, too.

Strefa Aktywności Gospodarczej Sp. z o.o. Economic Activity Zone – EAZ is a company owned by the City of Legnica. The EAZ manages the site of a former airport and the surrounding area. Its rental offers include production and storage halls and office space. The sites offered by the Company are continuously upgraded and expanded in cooperation with investors. The EAZ has 7 cubature sites dedicated for storage or production activities, along with the accompanying infrastructure, which consists of separate office and administration space with a total area of more than 21,000 m2.

  • Electrical services,
  • Clothing sector,
  • Online sales,
  • Manufacture of modular bathrooms.
